Privacy Policy for Wetopa

Wetopa ("Wetopa", "we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application for truck drivers and driver communities. It helps users discover and share parking places, companies, map points, road reports, photos, and other useful information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it may be shared, and what choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive information needed to create and maintain your account, including your Google email address, Google account identifier, and display name. We also store the public username you choose in the app. We may store your selected time zone and certain profile-related preferences needed for app features.

Location data

Wetopa may access your device location while the app is actively in use to show nearby content, support map features, allow reports and map contributions, and enable optional live location sharing features.

Wetopa does not continuously track your location in the background.

For some actions, Wetopa may also process short-lived location proof and anti-abuse metadata, such as location accuracy, speed, heading, timing information, and indicators related to mock location detection, in order to reduce fraud, spam, manipulation, and abusive reporting.

User-generated content

We collect and store content you create in the app, including:

  • parking places, companies, signs, map points, and road reports;
  • occupancy updates, votes, reactions, and comments;
  • uploaded parking photos and related metadata;
  • friend connections and sharing settings;
  • optional live location sharing data;
  • activity and contribution history used by ranking, moderation, safety, and anti-abuse systems.

When you upload a parking photo, we may also store related metadata such as the associated place, timestamps, technical file data, moderation status, and a snapshot of the related place information at the time of upload.

Usage and security data

We store certain technical and usage information needed to operate the service, protect the platform, and maintain fair community features. This may include session activity, contribution timing, reward events, anti-abuse events, and app integrity or authenticity checks, including Google Play Integrity signals.

Advertising and subscription data

If you use the ad-supported version of Wetopa, we and our advertising-related providers may process certain advertising and app-related data needed to deliver, measure, secure, and improve ads. Depending on your device, settings, region, and consent choices, this may include advertising identifiers or other device or app identifiers, approximate location derived from IP address or similar signals, app interactions, diagnostic information, and fraud-prevention or consent-related signals.

If you purchase Wetopa Premium through Google Play, we may receive and store subscription-related information needed to activate, verify, support, protect, and enforce the subscription. This can include subscription status, product identifier, purchase token, order identifier, expiration or renewal state, test purchase status, and related verification metadata returned by Google Play.

Optional backup data

If you use optional backup features, selected local app data may be copied to your own backup destination, such as your Google Drive account, depending on the feature you choose to use.

2. How we use your information

  • provide map, parking, company, sign, road report, photo, and community features;
  • authenticate your account and maintain your profile;
  • operate friend, sharing, and live location features;
  • support ranking, rewards, and moderation workflows;
  • display, measure, and protect ads in the ad-supported version of the app;
  • manage privacy and consent choices for advertising where required by law;
  • verify, activate, maintain, and support Wetopa Premium subscriptions;
  • prevent spam, fraud, vote manipulation, location spoofing, and other abuse;
  • improve reliability, stability, and quality of the app;
  • maintain and preserve useful community map information.

3. How information may be shared

Public content

Your public username and certain content you add to the community may be visible to other users. This can include public map contributions, road reports, comments, votes, and uploaded photos associated with community places.

We do not publicly display your Google email address to other users.

Limited sharing features

If you use live location or friend-sharing features, your data is only shared with the people or authorized recipients allowed by that feature and your settings. In some role-based or moderation-related features, certain information such as live location or selected vehicle information may be visible only to specifically authorized users.

Advertising-related processing

We do not sell your personal data for money. However, depending on your region, applicable law, and your in-app privacy choices, certain advertising-related data may be processed or shared with advertising partners and service providers to support ad delivery, ad measurement, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

4. Third-party services

Wetopa may rely on third-party services that support app functionality, infrastructure, authentication, mapping, advertising, billing, security, delivery, and optional backup features. These may include:

  • Google Sign-In
  • Google Maps
  • Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK
  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)
  • Google Play Billing
  • Google Play
  • Google Play Integrity
  • Cloudflare
  • Hetzner cloud infrastructure in Europe
  • Google Drive, if you use optional backup features

5. Data storage and security

Wetopa's primary service infrastructure is hosted on servers in Europe. Communication between the app and the server is protected with HTTPS. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, misuse, loss, and abuse. Some authentication-related information is also stored locally on your device in protected app storage.

Some third-party services we rely on, such as Google and Cloudflare, may process relevant data in other regions according to their service architecture, legal obligations, and privacy terms.

No system can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect the service and reduce abuse through access controls, integrity checks, fraud-prevention measures, and subscription verification safeguards.

6. Data retention

  • Account data: generally retained while your account remains active.
  • Public community map data: certain parking, company, sign, and related map records may be retained longer to preserve useful shared information for the community.
  • Road reports: may automatically expire after their active duration.
  • Live location: recent records may be stored temporarily on the server to support the feature, but stale entries are not shown after the feature's freshness window.
  • Security and anti-abuse records: may be retained as needed for fraud prevention, abuse handling, service protection, and legitimate operational needs.
  • Advertising and subscription records: advertising-related, consent-related, and subscription verification records may be retained as needed for service operation, fraud prevention, billing support, dispute handling, legal compliance, and app store requirements.
  • Backup data: if you use backup features, the data is also subject to the retention rules of the backup feature or provider you choose to use.

7. Account deletion

You can request deletion of your account from within the app and, where provided, from the web account deletion page.

When your account is deleted, Wetopa removes your account profile and associated personal data from active account records and related user-linked tables where applicable. Friend links, sharing permissions, live location records, and other directly associated account records are removed.

Deleting your Wetopa account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription. If you purchased Wetopa Premium, you must manage or cancel that subscription separately in Google Play.

Some public community contributions may remain in anonymized form if they are needed to preserve useful shared map information for other users. In those cases, the content is no longer tied to an active account profile.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, delete, or control certain data associated with your account.

Inside the app, you can:

  • manage your profile information and preferences;
  • manage ad privacy and consent choices from the app's privacy options entry point, where available;
  • stop using live location sharing features;
  • manage or cancel your Wetopa Premium subscription through Google Play;
  • remove the app from your device;
  • request account deletion.

You can also revoke Google Sign-In access from your Google Account settings. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@wetopa.com.

9. Children's privacy

Wetopa is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly offer the service to children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the date above and provide notice through the app, the website, or both.

11. Contact
